Meet & greet
A relaxed video call with a member of our surrogate team. This is a chance to get to know each other, ask questions, and hear first-hand insights from someone who has completed their own surrogacy journey.

It’s a supportive conversation, designed to help you feel informed and comfortable as you consider next steps.

Paperwork and homework items
If you choose to move forward, we’ll guide you through the required paperwork and a small number of at-home tasks. These help us prepare for the next stages and ensure everything is aligned before clinical review.
Medical records collection
We’ll support you in gathering the relevant medical records needed for the process. Our team will walk you through what’s required and be available for any questions along the way.
Compensation & benefits

Your compensation is personalised and discussed with you as part of the intake process. Our team will work with you to outline a compensation and benefits package that reflects your experience and the journey ahead.

This typically includes:

  • Base compensation starting from $60,000 for first-time surrogates, increasing with prior surrogacy experience and paid in stages throughout the pregnancy
  • Bonuses totalling over $12,000 for a completed journey
  • Travel expenses, reimbursed when travel is required
  • Additional compensation for embryo transfers and any invasive procedures, if needed
  • A pamper package, offering an allowance for wellness and self-care during the third trimester

We’ll walk you through everything clearly and answer any questions, so you feel informed and supported every step of the way.

MONTHS 3-4
Matching
Psychological evaluation
  • You will be connected with a licensed Mental Health Professional (MHP) for a (2) hour appointment. The first hour is devoted to a clinical interview and the second hour for the completion of an online psychological assessment inventory, the PAI. The Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) is a multiscale, self-administered questionnaire designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of client personality and psychopathology.
  • You will need a primary support person to join a portion of your clinical interview. If you are married or have a significant other, this must be your spouse or partner.
Background check
  • We conduct a background check via Goodhire for you, your spouse/partner or anyone that resides with you over the age of 18.
Surrogate profile
  • Our team will assist you with the creation of your surrogate profile.
Insurance review
  • Your existing health insurance is reviewed to determine if it’s surrogacy-friendly. If not, we arrange for a separate policy to be purchased for you.
IP Profiles & match call
  • You will have the opportunity to review intended parent profiles and decide who you would like to do a match call with.
  • A match call between you and the intended parent(s) takes place, guided by our team.
MONTHS 4-6
Medical & legal
Journey Manager introduction

Introduction and video call with your Journey Manager who will be your primary contact moving forward.

Your Journey Manager will help you get set up with the IVF clinic and escrow.

Medical clearance

You will travel to your intended parent(s) IVF clinic for medical clearance. This involves:

  • Blood analysis to check for the following: Infectious diseases, Drug use, Tobacco use, Hormone levels, vitamin D, Iron levels and AIC.
  • Immunity testing for Rubella, Hep B etc.
  • Uterine analysis/Saline sonohysterogram to ensure that there are no abnormalities with your uterus. This process is similar to a PAP and will include a transvaginal ultrasound when being performed.
  • Height and weight recorded for BMI documentation.
  • If you have a spouse or partner, they will be required to have their blood drawn and also analyzed but that can be completed locally to you.
Joint journey preparation
Introduction to Embra Health for your Joint Journey Preparation video call with your intended parent(s).
Legal
  • You will work with your chosen attorney to finalize the Gestational Carrier Agreement (GCA) between yourself and your intended parent(s)
  • After legal clearance, the medical and legal bonus is paid, your monthly allowance starts, and the IVF clinic works on a calendar for your embryo transfer
MONTH 7 – 8

Embryo transfer & confirmation of pregnancy

Embryo transfer
  • Accidental death insurance policy is implemented
  • You begin medications to prepare you for the embryo transfer. Once your uterine lining is adequate, the embryo transfer is confirmed
  • Embryo transfer takes place at the IVF clinic
Confirmation of pregnancy
  • Beta-HCG tests to confirm pregnancy. The first blood test is conducted approximately 5-10 days after transfer. If Beta-HCG is negative, the next embryo transfer should be scheduled within 2 months
  • Your Journey Manager will locate a local monitoring clinic and set up payment for those appointments
  • Confirmation of heartbeat via ultrasounds at your local monitoring clinic
  • Between weeks 10-14 of pregnancy, you graduate from the IVF clinic and are released to the care of your preferred obstetrician.
9 MONTHS
Pregnancy & birth
Obstetrician care
  • Base compensation starts the first day of the month following heartbeat confirmation
  • Your first OB appointment is in week 11-14. This includes first trimester screenings if requested by your intended parent(s)
  • Anatomy scan conducted from week 18-22
  • Any other tests and ultrasounds recommended by your OB will take place
  • You will work with your Journey Manager to ensure your IPs are updated after each doctor’s appointment
Birth
  • You will give birth in your preferred hospital, as agreed to with your IPs prior.
  • Our team will be in contact with you throughout pregnancy and post birth to ensure you are supported throughout.
6 WEEKS POST BIRTH & BEYOND
Post birth
Post birth care
  • Final OB checkup at 6 weeks post-birth.
Post birth reimbursements
  • 6-12 months post birth all expenses and medical bills have been submitted to the escrow by now and the account is closed.
  • Reimbursement for lost wages, childcare and housekeeping expenses.
