Understanding the Surrogacy Matching Process
There is a moment in every surrogacy journey where things begin to settle into place. For many people, that moment is the match, and understanding the surrogacy matching process can help everything feel clearer and less overwhelming. It is the point where two sets of hopes meet in the middle and the journey shifts from something imagined to something you can genuinely feel unfolding. Matching isn’t about finding people who look perfect on paper. It is about finding a connection that feels comfortable, respectful and aligned.
Getting to Know the Person Behind the Profile
Before anyone meets, both surrogates and intended parents complete their own profiles. These are simple but thoughtful documents that help each side understand the values, preferences and intentions behind the journey. What matters to them during pregnancy. How they like to communicate. The type of relationship they hope to build. These details help everyone see the person on the other side, not just the logistics.
The Heart of the Conversation
Once profiles are shared, our team, including Amanda and Janelle, spend time getting to know each person. These conversations are relaxed and open. We talk through the practical things, like communication preferences and involvement during the pregnancy, as well as the emotional things, like what support looks like or how people handle unexpected moments.
We also explore perspectives that matter during pregnancy, such as how decisions are made if medical complications arise. There is no right or wrong answer. It is simply about alignment so everyone feels comfortable and supported moving forward together. A strong surrogacy matching process gives both sides the clarity and confidence they need before stepping into the relationship together.
Legal Fit and State Requirements
Legal fit is an important part of matching. Surrogacy laws vary from state to state, so before any introductions happen, our team makes sure the intended parents and surrogate can move through each legal step smoothly.
We walk through any state-specific considerations so the surrogate knows exactly what applies to her local laws and requirements. Once this step is complete, the focus shifts entirely to connection and compatibility.

Support Through Embra Health
As part of matching, everyone has access to our mental health partner, Embra Health. Their team helps explore expectations, communication styles and emotional considerations.
These sessions give both the surrogate and intended parents space to understand themselves, and each other, in a deeper way. It helps the relationship begin from a place of calm, clarity and emotional readiness.
Your First Meeting: Where the Magic Happens
When a potential match feels right, we bring both sides together for a first meeting online. This call is always facilitated by the NewGen team so the conversation feels supported from the very beginning.
It is a chance to talk, laugh, ask questions and get a sense of the natural rhythm between you. Most people feel nervous going into a match meeting and that is completely normal. Those nerves tend to soften within the first few minutes, and our team is there to guide the conversation with warmth and care.
Many describe this first meeting as surprisingly easy and deeply grounding — the kind you leave feeling excited and clearer about the journey ahead. If the surrogate has a partner or someone who is part of her support network, they are welcome to join the introduction too.
When the Match Becomes Official
When both sides leave the call with a sense of ease and excitement, the match becomes official. It is a beautiful moment to witness. And from there, a new chapter begins.
